A Brief History OVAC Community Projects Members Only
At the present time Ovac has several projects it is trying to accomplish.
One of these projects is finding a car that could be donated to The West Sound Technical Skills Center as a project for Mark Franklin and his students. Mark has indicated that he cannot handle a "basket case" simply because he also has certain criteria to meet in teaching his students and a total restoration car would be too too time consuming
We are looking for something that would be somewhat together and could be used as a teaching tool. Most automobiles years ago and today have basic parts that function alike. E.g.,a motor or a transmission or a differential .Students can see where this idea formed and where it came to be today. The school would also like to put their project in local parades and have it on display at the school. The donor's name will be put on a plaque on the car and receipt of the gift for tax purposes will be given to the donor. Want to see your old bus be put to good use and become a "parade queen"? All it takes is a phone call to Don Moore at 360-779-2114
We are also looking for used tools to donate to the students at West Sound Voc school. We all have duplicate and even triplicate spare tools in junk drawers, boxes, corners, etc. I thought it would be good to share these with the students at West Sound Technical Skills center. Mark Franklin will make up sets and give them to students for incentives. Remember years ago when you were interested in doing something on a car and hardly had much more than a crescent wrench to work with. Tools cost money and these students could use your old cast offs. Get what you can together and give me a call,I'll pick them up. Teach a person to work with his hands and he/she will always have something to do./Don Moore at 360-779-2114
